Q. Are washable nappies still like old fashioned square terries?
A. No, today’s high performance cotton nappies and covers are simple and quick to use with excellent protection against leaks. They are shaped, fitted and fasten without the need for pins.

Q. Do real nappies leak?
A. With the correct size real nappies shouldn't leak. We don't recommend using fabric conditioner as this affects absorbancy. Some parents report that they have fewer leaks using real nappies than disposable nappies particularly for the newborn babies.

Q. Will a nursery or childminder accept my baby in real nappies?
A. All nurseries in Salisbury have said that they will accept babies in real nappies.

Q. How often do I have to wash the nappies?
A. Most people wash their nappies every 2-3 days.

Q. Is it true that my child will be potty trained earlier if I use washable nappies?
A. Yes, unlike disposable nappies, cloth nappies show the baby the connection of wetting and being wet at a much earlier stage of development. Anecdotal evidence shows that babies using cloth nappies are toilet trained at a much earlier stage.

Q. Will they last all night?
A. Yes, A baby wearing real nappies should easily sleep through 12 or more hours without a leak, providing the nappy has been given enough padding for night time use.

Q. How many nappies will I need?
A. That depends on the type of nappy and the age of the baby, it is likely to be between 12-24 nappies…we would recommend that you ask your supplier.
